All of us at Simply Lunch are very excited to announce that at the end of June 2018, Simply Lunch will be launching a whole new brand and style of packaging. We have been working on our new branding and associated packaging improvements over the last few months and are now ready to launch our new brand.
Why Bother Re-branding?
We asked Sam, Simply Lunch’s Managing Director, why he thought updating the company’s brand and packaging was necessary. Here’s what he said…
“Simply Lunch is renowned for high quality products made with the best locally sourced ingredients. We felt that our packaging could do more to enhance our products as well as to let our customers know more about what they are eating and the people who are making it, in a subtle and unoffending way by staying true to our mission of letting the ‘sandwiches do the talking’. We are absolutely delighted with the final outcome and we hope that all our customers feel the same. This refresh is just the beginning of a host of developments across the brand which we cannot wait to share with everyone.”
The brand itself has had an uplift. We have a new logo which has our heritage, 1979, stamped onto it and the hummingbird at the centre of the logo; this particular bird represents Simply Lunch as we seek out the best ingredients and the hummingbird seeks out the best nectar. Our associated imagery has also changed; this is now clean and fresh and can be seen on our new POS designs and website.
We’ve also made dramatic packaging improvements to the design and physical structure of our food to go products. We’ve moved to pre-printed packaging and there is different coloured packaging for different dietary wants and needs e.g. vegetarian products are printed in green and fish, in blue. We have also printed a traffic light system on all product packaging as well as an icon system that highlights snapshots of product information such as under 400kcal, gluten free or even if the product won an award. The packaging itself will also include artwork from a local artist and a little about the history of Simply Lunch.
We’ve shown our new packaging to a few customers to gain their feedback already. Here’s what one of our customers from Southampton said:
“The new clean, clear and concise packaging is a welcome update to the Simply Lunch brand. Of particular note is the use of ingredient provenance, this adds a nice touch of informative detail to each product.” -Tim, Southampton.
How will this affect me as a customer?
Our customers do not need to action anything themselves as the changes will automatically be implemented. There will also be no changes to ordering schedules, templates, prices or product codes. We will be launching the new brand and packaging end of June so by July, the initial changes will all have been implemented for our customers.
We will be looking to introduce further packaging changes over the next few months to ensure our packaging is as sustainable and environmentally friendly as it can be. We are also introducing an online ordering system where our customers will be able to login to our new website and review past orders and create new orders.
